1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They let the site remember things between page loads (for example, whether you're signed in).
2. What we use
The HYBRIDGE website does not set any cookies on visitors. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, ad networks, retargeting, fingerprinting or any other third-party tracker. No cookie is sent to your browser when you load this site.
3. Local storage
We use one item in your browser's localStorage: hb-cookies-ack, set to 1 once you dismiss the cookie notice. This isn't a cookie technically — it never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers — but is worth mentioning. It stops us from showing the same banner on every visit.
4. Analytics — without cookies
We measure aggregate traffic and what visitors search for on the site in order to improve the conference programme and information architecture. This is done server-side, without any cookie or third-party script. For each request we derive a short session hash from the IP address, user-agent and a server secret, truncated to 16 characters; the salt rotates every 24 hours, so we cannot link visits across days or identify you. See sections 2, 3 and 5 of the privacy policy for the full description.
5. Form protection — Altcha (no cookies)
Our newsletter, registration and contact forms are protected against automated abuse by Altcha, a self-hosted proof-of-work challenge. The challenge runs in your browser and is verified on our servers; no cookie is set, and no data is sent to any third party.
6. Consent
Under the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive, our cookie-free analytics method does not require consent. We still inform you on first visit via a non-blocking notice that you can dismiss.
7. Disabling cookies
Because we don't set cookies on visitors, blocking cookies in your browser has no effect on how this site works.
8. Changes
If we ever introduce cookies (e.g. third-party analytics or marketing), we'll update this page and ask for explicit, granular consent before setting them.
